And it came to pass. And it came to pass. Thank God for the words, “And it came to pass”! What had just passed? Verse 11 of our passage had just passed. Have you had a time in your life where you want it to hurry up and pass?
How did Jesus handle these times? The same way we need to handle them. Jesus went to pray and be alone with God. He continued all night long. We get our strength the same way. Prayer is our hotline to God. Prayer renews us. Prayer gives us the power to continue. Prayer allows us to continue.
Look what happens next, He then chooses his disciples. He begins Luke’s version of the Sermon on the Mount. How can Jesus go from fighting with the Pharisees to mountain top experiences? Because of Luke 6:12. This is why His disciple asked Him to teach them how to pray.
Heavenly Father, Teach us to pray! Help us to understand that we raise no higher than when we are on our knees in prayer.
